The episode featured OnSide’s incredible work in Salford, ahead of the launch of its 16th Youth Zone this summer. The spotlight was firmly on the Salford Young People’s Development Group (YPDG) – a group of passionate young individuals who have been instrumental in shaping their new Youth Zone from the ground up.
The segment highlighted how young people are not only involved but are central to the creation of each Youth Zone – influencing everything from branding and interior design to ensuring the space is welcoming, inclusive, and tailored to their community's needs.
One of the most memorable moments came when Jack, a proud YPDG member, spoke with presenter Ashley John-Baptiste just before stepping inside the completed Youth Zone for the very first time. When asked how he felt in that moment, Jack replied: "It’s like a little kid waiting for Christmas to come." His words captured the excitement, pride, and sense of ownership felt by everyone involved.
