Scale Space partners with the University of Nottingham to boost ‘Fintech ScaleUps Innovation’
Scale Space Nottingham, which launched in April 2021, has partnered with the University of Nottingham to create a ground-breaking FinTech & Data Innovation Hub based in its Wollaton Street building. A research team from the University’s Faculty of Social Sciences will work alongside fintech and other digitally driven scaleups based in Scale Space, to explore opportunities for technology and business innovations.
The academic partnership in Nottingham follows a similar successful venture in London’s White City Innovation District where Scale Space has joined forces with Imperial College London.
Announcing the initiative, Mark Sanders, CEO of Scale Space, said, “As part of Blenheim Chalcot, we have decades of experience in overcoming the challenges scaleups face, and joining those skills to the renowned research, innovation and problem-solving expertise of the University of Nottingham is key to providing high-value support.”
Professor John Gathergood, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor in the faculty of Social Sciences, said, “This is a really exciting partnership between a research community at the frontier of ideas and innovation and a unique scaleup partner. Nottingham has the UK’s leading cluster of fintech growth firms and the UK’s leading venture builder, which makes this an ideal partnership for the University.”
The announcement has been endorsed by Invest in Nottingham which sees it as further proof of Nottingham’s heritage and strength in fintech and data analytics.
Scale Space Nottingham is already home to successful fintech scaleups including small business finance provider Liberis, lending innovator Oakbrook and debt solutions specialist Just.
The Fintech and Data Innovation Hub is set to launch later this month.
